The Challenge & Research
Localcoin set out to increase engagement across its growing network of crypto ATMs, but fragmented communication channels and limited user tracking made it difficult to re-engage existing users and understand what was actually driving usage. While the ATM network continued to expand internationally, messaging across social, SMS, and on-site experiences lacked consistency and localization—reducing the effectiveness of campaigns meant to bring users back to their nearest machine.
User reactivation was a key priority. SMS campaigns were underperforming, landing experiences were generic, and attribution across channels was unclear. To address this, we analyzed existing campaign performance, reviewed user behavior across regions, and identified opportunities to segment users more intelligently based on location, intent, and usage patterns. This groundwork informed a multi-channel engagement strategy focused on clarity, localization, and measurable outcomes.
The Strategy & Execution
With clear objectives in place, we rebuilt Localcoin’s engagement engine across SMS, web, and social. SMS campaigns were restructured and optimized to improve deliverability and relevance, directing users back to their nearest Localcoin ATM with location-aware messaging. These improvements resulted in a 279% increase in SMS deliverability, significantly boosting campaign reach and effectiveness.
To support these campaigns, we designed and launched custom landing pages tailored to specific user segments using Unbounce and Framer. Each page aligned with the intent of the campaign—whether onboarding new users or reactivating existing ones—creating a smoother path from message to action.
We also expanded Localcoin’s branding across new international markets, including Poland and Hong Kong, ensuring campaigns, landing pages, and messaging resonated with local audiences while maintaining brand consistency.
On the social side, we built a topic-driven content strategy centered around crypto education, ATM usage, and market relevance. This approach positioned Localcoin as both accessible and informative, driving a 73% increase in social media following. To reinforce brand presence offline, we collaborated closely with the design team to enhance branding through ATM screensavers, turning physical touchpoints into an extension of Localcoin’s digital experience.
Finally, we implemented end-to-end tracking using Localcoin’s discount codes, allowing the team to accurately identify where new and returning users were coming from—across SMS, social, and landing pages. This attribution layer enabled smarter campaign decisions and clearer ROI measurement moving forward.
The Results
The impact of this integrated approach was immediate and measurable. With proper tracking in place, Localcoin gained full visibility into which channels and regions were performing best—unlocking more efficient growth across its global ATM network.
